1.1 The history of our school
The High School is attached to Xi’an Jiaotong University, which is world-famous.
Towering trees have their roots and the rivers flowing around the mountains have their sources. The history of the School goes back to 1898, when Nan Yang Public School established a middle school called Zhong Yuan, to help students prepare for university. This became attached to the university in 1908. There have been many changes since then but the School has kept its traditions. The High School moved to Xi’an from Shanghai in 1956 and the middle school was set up in 1959. The School was rebuilt in 1981. In 1991 the School became a “key middle school” and since then it has won more than 100 honors for educational achievement within the city, the province and the whole country.

1.2 The teaching staff of our school.
The teaching staff of the High School are both dedicated to education and have very high academic and moral standards. Many of them have graduate degrees. They are committed to making the most of the 45 minutes of every single lesson. Since 2001, more than 100 High School teachers have won awards for their teaching.

1.3 The achievements of our school.
The High School tries to give each student a well-rounded education and to encourage individuality. Sciences and humanities are given equal emphasis. Learning should be active and happy.
The School believes that moral education provides an important foundation for all students and this is built into all aspects of schooling. This has contributed to the development of teaching quality, which is at the heart of the School’s success. The High School has achieved first class academic success in recent years and is one of the top-achieving schools in the Xi’an and Shaanxi province. Students from the School are among the most successful in getting into the top universities in the country.
The School organizes a number of specialist teaching programs, for example, in basketball, in fine arts, in language education and for direct entrance to Xi’an Jiaotong University. The steady development of teaching has resulted in the School winning provincial awards in a number of areas, including basketball, biology, the arts, science education and so on.
The reform of the senior secondary curriculum in Shaanxi province which has recently been taking place has been used as an opportunity to experiment with new educational ideas and to develop the School still further.

1.4 The links our School has with schools in other countries.
The High School attached to Xi’an Jiaotong University is always looking for new ways to develop and improve. One important aspect of this is the links the School has with schools in other countries. It now has links with schools in more than 20 countries, including the Great Britain, France, the USA, Australia, Korea, Singapore and Japan as well as with schools from Hong Kong. Every year more than 500 teachers and students visit our school. Also, more than 100 teachers and students from our school travel abroad to take part in international activities. The School also has a number of teachers from overseas. Altogether, these international links show how the School tries to give teachers and students a wider view of the world.

1.5 The aims of our school
Xi’an Jiaotong University High School is attached to Xi’an Jiaotong University, which has more than 100 years of history. The School aims to give students a high quality education, helping them to be creative, with skills in a wide range of areas and able to adapt to changes in modern society.

1. Hi, everyone! I’m Zhuang Chuhan , a student in JiaoTong University Middle School. .And you can call me Paddy. For me , Class 10 Grade 1 is a big family. It’s really great!
In this big family, I have 55 classmates and one teacher. They are very kind to me . We help each other if someone has some problems. We also share the good things together. When one of my classmates hurts her leg, we all write letters to her. So she can know everything about our class in the hospital .Before the holidays, we prepare the programs.

2. I ’m a student in Class 10, Grade 2 , My name is Xue Chuhui. And Kiddow is my English name.
The school life of Grade 1was very interesting and happy, for I met many new friends and the teachers were very kind to us.
Every day, you must be polite to say ”Good morning, teacher” “Hello, teacher” when you meet the teacher or at the beginning of the class. If you do this, the teacher will think that you are a friendly boy or girl.
And you should do the things which the teacher tells you to do, then the teacher will feel happy.

3. My name is Bai Xue , I came to this school on 2006 September first.
I have learned many things since I came to this school. But something that still leaves a heavy trace in my mind is the way this school taught us to bond with my parents and help them. Now my mother often says that thanks to this school, I have become a much more agreeable daughter. I help her in many things such as cooking and cleaning now, and will keep doing so. I thank this school sincerely for teaching me my duties as a child.

History of XJTU
Towering trees have their roots and the rivers flowing around the mountains have their sources. The predecessor of Xi'an Jiaotong University is Nanyang Public University that was founded in Shanghai in 1896; in 1905, it was transferred to the commercial department and was renamed High Industrial School; in 1906, it was under the command of postal transmission department. It was renamed Shanghai High Industrial School of Postal Transmission Department.
In 1911, Xinhai Revolution broke out. The school was renamed Grand Naiyang University; after Republic of China was founded in 1912, it was managed by traffic department and was renamed Shanghai Special Industrial School of Traffic Department; in 1921, Jiaotong university was set up by merging Shanghai Special Industrial School, Tangshan Special Industrial School, Beiping Railway Management School and Beiping Post Telecommunication School. So our university was called Shanghai School of Jiaotong University; in 1922, Jiaotong University had three schools. The original Shanghai School was renamed Nanyang University of Traffic Department. in 1927, it was renamed the First Jiaotong University of the Traffic Department; In 1928, the Guomin Government issued "Organizational Outline of Jiaotong University". The three schools in Shanghai, Tangshan and Beiping were all called Jiaotong University. The headquarter was in Shanghai. In the same year, it was transferred to railway department.
During the period of Anti -Japanese War, our university was moved to French Concession and in 1940 State-run Branch of Jiaotong university was set up in Chongqing; in 1941, in order to prevent Wang Puppet Government angst taking over the university, our university was run continually in the name of Private Nanyang University; In 1942, Wang Puppet Government took over Shanghai School.So the Education Department of Guomin Government chose Chongqing Branch as the headquarter of Jiaotong university. After Anti -Japanese War was won, Chongqing headquarter went back to Shanghai and merged with Shanghai School. In 1946, the name of State-run Jiaotong University was recovered.
In 1955, the State Council decided to move Jiaotong University to Xi'an. In May of 1956, it began to move. In September of 1957, Jiaotong University has two parts, one was in Xi'an. The other was in Shanghai. Later, most departments, specialties, books, equipment and instruments and teachers, students and staffs moved to Xi'an; on July 31, 1959, No, 212 Guoerluzi document of State Council approved and agreed education department's decision that the Xi'an part and Shanghai part of Jiaotong university become independent and set up two universities, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Shanghai University. The president of former Jiaotong University acted as the president of Xi'an Jiaotong University. In the same year, Xi'an Jiaotong University was listed as the key university in China. Later, it became one of a few universities built according to the "Seventh Five- Year Plan" and "Eighth Five- Year Plan" of China. It was also one of the universities that entered the construction of "211 project" of China. In September, it was determined to be one of a few universities that had the target to build world famous high level University. In April of 2000, approved by the State Council, Xi'an Medical University, Shannxi Institute of Finance and Economics and Xi'an Jiaotong University were merged and formed the new Xi'an Jiaotong University.
