May 25, 26, Hangzhou Tournament was hosted in Hangzhou by National High School Debate League of China. Four students, coached by Cathy kang participated in this event. Lola(Guo yuzhi) and Jason(Wang ruilong) were awarded Champion. Another two students entered the top eighth in the elimination round.

This event takes the form of Public Forum Debate which is very popular among American high schools and colleges. Two people in one team join in a heated debate on current political and economic issue. This form of debate emphasize debaters’ public speaking skills, critical thinking skills and language proficiency.

Two HSXJTU teams stood out among 60 teams coming from key high schools such as Hangzhou Foreign language school, Jin hua foreign language school, Hangzhou 14 high school, Hangzhou 2 high school. Nanjing Jinling High school and Hebei hengshui high school.

In the final round, Lola and Jason won the debate by an absolute advantage with consensus approval from all five judges. Both two teams have been qualified to participate in National Championship to be held in August 18th.
