Our school participated in the third National Invitational Tournament of Fun Mechanics for Middle School Students held in Beijing on 20th November and won the first place of the first-rank award.

This event was co-organized by China’s Mechanics Society, Tsinghua University and CCTV. 27 teams from Beijing, Shandong, Hubei and Shaanxi Provinces participated. This event aimed at prompting learning through fun and arousing teenagers’ curiosity and interest in science and also cultivating students’ team spirit, innovation and the ability of applying knowledge to everyday life.

Each delegate was required to finish a design and the realization of mechanic arms within two and a half hours and also this artificial arm should manage five tasks including pea-picking, paper-folding and put them into a mailbox. After heated competition, the three students, Bai Xin, Hong Wanshi and Chen Yiqi from HSXJTU successfully completed the five tasks by their cooperation and won the first place among the first prizers. Professor Gao Yunfeng expressed his laudatory comments on the outstanding performance exhibited by HSXJTU students.
