Dec. 20, 2009, Mrs. Wang Peidong, Principal of The High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University was honored National Outstanding Principal Prize for Education Reform and Innovation, and there were other 19 principals shared this special honor, according to the result of evaluation organized by China Education Newspaper, China Education News Net. This is the first time for Chinese education authority to issue this prize.

At Morning of Dec. 20, Awarding Ceremony of the 1st National Education Reform and Innovation and China Education Reform and Innovation Forum was held in Beijing. Mrs. Li Weihong, Vice Minister of Ministry of Education, (MOE), Mr. Zhu Yongxin, Standing Commissioner of NPC, Mr. Gu Mingyuan, Chief of Chinese Society of Education, Mr. Jiang Peimin, Director-General of the Department of Personnel, MOE, Mr. Guan Peidong Jun, Director-General of Department of Teacher Education, MOE, Mrs. Zheng Fuzhi, Director-General of Department of Basic Education II, MOE, Prof. Yuan Zhengguo, President of CNIER，Mr. Wang Dinghua, Deputy Director-General of Department of Basic Education I, MOE presented the ceremony with many education experts in China. Mrs. Li Weihong and Mr. Gu Mingyuan respectively gave a speech and awarded the prize winners, among whom there were the 20 outstanding principals for their contribution to the education reform and innovation.

All the winners were chosen through 4-month process, which consisted of four steps: recommended by education authorities in the nation wide, appraisal from main-stream media, pubic voting and experts evaluation. Mrs. Wang Peidong, principal of the High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University won this special honor for her pioneer spirit, innovative work featured international outlook. The afternoon, Mrs. Wang Peidong was invited to deliver a speech with the title Help Each Student to Maximize Their Potentials. The education philosophy and fruitful results of education reform and innovation were accepted and praised by participants including education authority, experts and representatives. Mr. Gu Mingyuan, Chief of Chinese Society of Education, specially pointed out that the education ideas and practices of The High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University represent the trend and direction of Chinese education reform.

Besides, there were other 30 principals honored National Excellent Principal Prize in nation wide this time.
