On October 11, The High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University held the DSD Plaque Awarding Ceremony. Ms. Diana Amann, counselor and coordinator, German Federal Foreign Affairs Ministry of International Education Department, awarded DSD Plaque to our school specially.
Awarding ceremony was presided over by Li Yang, director of administration office. First of all, Principal Wang Peidong gave a warm welcoming speech to thank Ms. Amann for the great efforts and outstanding contributions she has made to carry out DSD project for our school, and said that our school will take advantage of the opportunity of DSD project and conscientiously implement German teaching plan according to relevant requirements by Germany Education Ministry. The High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University will make extensive and in-depth dialogue with the international language education, improve the standard of German teaching, and make efforts to help more students to pass the German language certificate examinations. Our school is also committed itself to laying a solid foundation for students in further education and realize the healthy and diverse development. We will make our due contributions to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and German education. Then, Ms. Amann delivered a speech. She introduced the information about the DSD projects in China, as well as the process of cooperation with our school at the beginning, saying that the Germany will do their best to provide support and help to our school so as to promote DSD project to work smoothly in our school. The teachers and students in German education pilot class of our school also made speeches. Finally, Principal Wang Peidong accepted Plaque of "The German DSD Designated Cooperative School" from Ms. Amann. This marks The High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University has been honored as an official cooperative school of Germany's DSD project.
After the Awarding ceremony, Ms. Amann also patiently answered questions from students and parents about the DSD project, and the interaction was very active. She encouraged students to get German language certificate for further studies in Germany. She also introduced that most universities waive tuition fees in Germany, and furthermore, the German Federal Foreign Affairs Ministry of International Education Department will offer help to the member schools of DSD project consistently, including to provide scholarships for Chinese students in DSD project. The students graduating from German universities can have great employment opportunities, and choose their own jobs in Germany or go back to China to work. She said that most of students entering the German university through DSD Project have made outstanding performance in recent years, so she has confidence in the prospects of the project in The High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University.
It is understood that it takes 12 years to study in Chinese basic education, and 13 years in Germany, because of that, Chinese high school students have not been able to apply for German universities. Deutsches Sprach-diplom provides a proof of language to enter Universities around the world. The project is managed jointly by German Education and Culture Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only some very high-quality schools in China are conferred the cooperative school of the project through strict selection by German authorities. The students who get the language certificate can apply for a German university directly. Except for that, Chinese undergraduate students must pass a series of tests to apply for German Universities.
In the ceremony, our students also performed folk music, dance, German song and other beautiful programs to celebrate this event.
