September 29th saw the grand celebration of 115’ anniversary and 30 years since restoration of the High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. More than 3000 people observed this significant celebration including school retirees, alumni, parents, HSXJTU faculty and students and some distinguished guests such as Mr. Wang Jianhua, Party Committee Secretary of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Deputy Director Zhang Daohong of Shaanxi Standing Committee, Niu Yanbing, vice head of Higher Education Division of Education Ministry, Mr. Stephen S. Murray, Head of University School America, to just name a few. Leaders in attendance complimented on HSXJTU’s school orientation and achievements while encouraging HSXJTU to carry on its fine legacy and bring up more sustainable and contributing talents to the nation on the basis of putting people first.(附详细列表于文后)
Vice principal Song Jinan presided over this event. Madame Wang Peidong, Party Committee Secretary of Basic Education of Xi’an Jiaotong University and Principal of HSXJTU, delivered the opening speech in which she reviewed the struggle process in the past 115 years including the 30years after school restoration. She summed up HSXJTU patriotism, self-improvement demonstrated by predecessors, pursuit of science, and exploration on education in new era. Sincere gratitude was extended to all HSXJTU faculty and their understanding families who have been devoted relentless to school ever since school restoration, to all alumni year after year for their diligence and honor brought to alma mater. Madame Wang hopes that students can build up inside strong responsibility and a sense of mission in order to render service to our country and human beings while tempering conducts, strengthening belief with down-to-earth attitude and striving to become talents with vision, open mind, capability of shouldering big responsibility.
The second speaker was Mr. Wang Dianjun, Head of Tsinghua University Affiliated High School. He expressed a heartfelt congratulation on HSXJTU’s achievement and anniversary celebration and extended a wish that HSXJTU could make this anniversary a fresh new starting point and strive to become a forerunner in China’s basic education.
Following Mr. Wang Dianjun, Mr. Stephen S. Murray, Head of University School from USA presented a congratulation speech in which he expressed his congratulations and by quoting a personal story, illustrated the importance of education in changing people’s life and the influence from teachers on students’ lifelong growth.
Party Committee Secretary Wang Jianhua of Xi’an Jiaotong University, representing all faculty and students and alumni of Xi’an Jiaotong University, delivered his congratulations on this event and also expressed his appreciation to former school leaders and teachers. He expressed his hope for all HSXJTU faculty members to make best of intellectual faculty and be creative, bold, and practical in implementing all-round education so as to promote students’ all-round development and write out a new HSXJTU chapter of talent nurturing.
The speech session was concluded with Mme Wang Xia’s speech, Deputy Secretary of Shaanxi Party Committee. “The High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University is a renowned school with long history. Tremendous achievement has been made in talents nurturing, teaching and research. It is well hoped that HSXJTU strive to become a leader in province, first-rate in China and well-known in the world whole keeping to the principal of putting people, ethics, capability and all-round development its top priority. It is also high expected that HSXJTU can motivate the development of Shaanxi basic education, nurturing more talents for a stronger Shaanxi and China.”
Following speech session, Mme. Wang Peidong, on behalf of the whole school, presented flowered to former principals and Party Secretaries who served for the school after Restoration. Students presented flowers to retired faculty in attendance.
Afterwards a spectacular performance was presented by HSXJTU faculty and students.
