On Decmber 17, 2008, the South Korea’s delegation from the Education Department of Kangwon Province visited the High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. On this occasion, the Sino-Korea Students’ Painting& Calligraphy Exhibition and Seminar of the English Education had been formally opened. Mr. Lv Mingkai-the Deputy Director-General from the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, Mr. Li Xiangfan, Education Deputy Director from the Education Department of Kangwon had cut the ribbons for the opening ceremony.
The Sino-Korea Students’ Painting& Calligraphy Exhibition was jointly organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and Kangwon (South Korea) Province Department of Education, and sponsored by the High School affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. This activity had received over 100 paintings & calligraphies from Sino-Korea students, including our traditional freehand brushworks, oil paintings of the modern style, landscape paintings, and portraits. The opening ceremony of the Sino-Korea Students’ Painting& Calligraphy Exhibition was presided over by the Principal-Mrs. Wang Peigdong. In the speech of Mr. Lv Mingkai-the Deputy Director-General from the Shaanxi Provincial Education Department, paintings and calligraphies are the silent languages, which had bridged the souls. And our activity could promote the cultural exchanges between our two countries and deepen the friendship between our students. Mr. Li Xiangfan, Education Deputy Director from the Education Department of Kangwon voiced that Chinese paintings& calligraphies took a far influence to the culture of South Korea. He sincerely hoped that the bridge of friendship between the students of our two nations can be formed through this painting& calligraphy activity. Upon the end of the opening ceremony, people from Shaanxi and Kangwon education circles had visited the paintings and calligraphies exhibition, and wrote down the remarks in the visitors’ book, for instance, long live the Sino-Korea friendship.
In that afternoon, through the cooperation of Shaanxi Education Association and the Education Department of Kangwon, a first Sino-Korea seminar on the English education had been held in the High School affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. This seminar was presided over by Mrs. Wang Peigdong. Before the opening of the seminar, delegates from educational circle of Kangwon, teacher delegates from Xi’an Senior High School, the High School affiliated to Northwest University, Xi’an Bodi School attended an English public class, the teacher of which was from the High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. During the seminar, Mrs. Zhang Xuelian, the Secretary General of English Language Education from Shaanxi Education Association and English teaching researcher from Shaanxi Research Institute of Education Science made an introduction to the English Immersion approach in the teaching. Mrs. Chi Yanping, responsible for researching the English Immersion approach in the teaching in Xi’an had reported the achievements in the teaching. Mr. Li Xiangfan also introduced the English teaching in Kangwon. The Sino-Korea education staff had also discussed some common problems in the English teaching, which had a great influence to the improvement of English education.
The concerned leaders and educational staff visited the Qujiang campus,laboratory, and art of gallery after the conclusion of the Sino-Korea Students Exchange in the Painting& Calligraphy and Seminar of the English Education.
