Mar. 5th, 2011, 9 seniors from SFU (Simon Fraser University, Canada) arrived on Qujiang Campus. It is the first time for SFU to put its Co-op Program at our school. Principal Wang and vice Principal Liu, on behalf of all HSXJTU students and teachers, extended a warm welcome to the guests coming from afar. Later on a detailed discussion was held between these students and their tutors, partners and assistants assigned by HSXJTU.
5 out of 9 will be put on higher campus and the other 4 on lower campus. They will stay on campus for four weeks with the first week observing classes and the next three weeks taking on practicing teaching.
Mar. 7th at Monday assembly on higher campus, vice Principal Liu introduced the 5 SFU students to the whole school. Miss Hailey McCarthy and Mr. Grant Petersen, speaking for all 5, delivered an introductory speech which was greeted with heated applause among students. The other 4 SFU students were also going through similar welcome process held on lower campus.
As international outlook is becoming an integral part in education, it is inevitable to include more and more exchange programs with foreign schools. “It would be a wonderful opportunity for HSXJTU students to taste different ways of teaching from foreign teachers” Principal Wang said, “to spend four weeks with foreign teachers is also an excellent experience for our students.”
